Flame Virus Israel NSA - Business Insider
Security researchers have linked the Flame virus to Israel while U.S. computer security experts say that it bears the hallmarks of the National Security Agency (NSA), according to reports from Nicole Perlroth of The New York Times and Robert Windrem of NBC News.
Flame is a massive program that leaves a backdoor (i.e. Trojan) on computers through which it sucks information from networks by actions that include?recording keystrokes,?capturing screen images, remotely changing settings on computers, turning every computer into a listening device, and using Bluetooth to gather data from nearby cell phones and tablets.
The 20 megabyte virus was first discovered over the weekend by Russian cybersecurity firm Kaspersky Lab?after?a U.N. telecommunications agency asked it to analyze data on malicious software across the Middle East after Iranian reports of a data-wiping?virus, according to Reuters.
The highest concentrations of compromised computers were found in Iran, followed by the Palestinian West Bank, Israel, Sudan, Syria and Lebanon. Additional infections have been reported in Hungary, Austria, Russia, Hong Kong, and the United Arab Emirates.
Kaspersky researchers told?The New York Times that Flame shares notable features with?the Duqu and Stuxnet?malware, including?exploiting the same flaw in the Windows operating system?and that they believe all three viruses were?written by?the same state-sponsored campaign.
Duqu was a surveillance tool used to copy blueprints of Iran?s nuclear program whereas Stuxnet?destroyed roughly a fifth of Iran?s nuclear centrifuges by causing them to spin out of control.
Perlroth reports that Kaspersky researchers tracked the working hours of Duqu's operators, finding that they coincided with Jerusalem local time and were inactive during the Sabbath (i.e.?between sundown on Fridays and sundown on Saturdays) when observant Jews typically refrain from secular work.
A January 2011 report?in The?New York Times?revealed that Stuxnet?was?tested at Dimona (i.e. the supposed headquarters of Israel?s nuclear weapons program) in addition to other?"clues suggesting that the virus was?designed as an American-Israeli project to sabotage the Iranian program."
Cybersecurity experts noted that Flame may have been designed before or at the same time as Duqu (which researchers think was created around August 2007) and Stuxnet (which first appeared in June 2009) because the antivirus maker Webroot?first encountered a sample of Flame in December 2007 and?Hungarian Laboratory of Cryptography and Systems Security, which first discovered Duqu, told Reuters that Flame may have been active for at least five years and perhaps eight years or more.

He has now discovered that this gene changes its expression in prostate cancer cells and produces a protein that could be responsible for changing the behaviour of the cells.? This means that the protein could be used as a potential marker for the disease, indicating which patients are at risk?of developing a more aggressive type of cancer.

Professor Foster said: ?We know that the protein produced by the altered gene contains a unique active region. We now need to define the role that this protein is playing in prostate cancer. If it encourages aggressiveness in prostate cancers then we may be able to develop new drugs that reduce its effects in the cancer cells.?
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men. Each year approximately 40,800 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer in the UK and around 10,700 die from the disease. The findings of this study may provide a biological approach to treating men with aggressive forms of prostate cancer and for whom no specific therapy is currently available.
The study is supported by Cancer Research UK and the North West Cancer Research Fund.

While Gene Roddenberry originally envisioned the show as a space western, an intergalactic Bonanza, it turned out to be much more like a stellar soap opera, with relationship dramas heightened by the cross-cultural difficulties of inter-species conflict. How the biology would work was a question rarely addressed. It seems to have worked for Spock?s parents, and Spock himself had a fling of his own with Uhura. Warf never seemed satisfied with Klingon women. Deana Troi?s Betazoid gift of reading emotions made her a good ship?s counselor, but she never seemed to be able to put the gift to good use in her various affairs of the heart across the great divide. Perhaps the most far-fetched of all these bold journeys into lands of unlikely liaisons where no one had gone before was Tasha Yar?s one night stand with the android, Commander Data.
Gene Roddenberry was certainly not the first to dramatize the difficulties of other-worldly relationships. The pre-history narratives of the beginning of creation give us the first script for the soap opera of mixed marriages, between the sons of God and the daughters of men. Some commentators have tried to explain away this fantastic drama, arguing that the sons of God refer to Seth?s offspring and the daughters of men refer to Cain?s offspring. I don?t buy that, because the biblical writers are fairly consistent in describing offspring of particular people by their names, and the phrase sons of God is consistently used to describe angelic beings. That other biblical traditions argued that angels are sex-less beings does not seem to have bothered these early story-tellers. Perhaps they were answering the age-old question, how did the first family of humans answer the call to be fruitful and multiply? Their answer is fascinating. The first family multiplied by going outside the family, outside the human family, and as a result giants were found tromping through the land (the offspring of the other-worldly mating). Also as a result, a flood came to destroy the earth. God was not pleased that the humans looked for love outside their world, that they were fruitful and multiplied with non-humans. It brought wickedness to the community, and God lost patience trying to strive with these less-than-human creatures. Enter Noah and the ark. Maybe it was named Enterprise B.
I think there?s a lesson in this tried and true trope of a story for us today, as we argue and fight over who should be able to marry. We seem content to allow any man and any woman to marry, no matter what ?worlds?, that is, what world systems, what core values, they adhere to. When a man and a woman meet in Vegas, get sloppy drunk and take a taxi over to the Chapel of Love to get hitched by an ordained Elvis impersonator, there are no questions asked about how much they share world views, core values, or beliefs. They are yoked together by the power vested by the State, no matter how unequal the yoking might prove, all because they have the ?right? plumbing. But if two sober human beings of the same gender, who happen to share the same core values of love, mutuality, respect, dignity, fidelity, and monogamy, who are ready to make a life-long commitment to one another before God, approach the courthouse in our state to get their license, they are treated as aliens, as if they have no human rights. Church leaders are right in saying the institution of marriage is at risk, but I think they have identified the wrong risk, the wrong threat.?It?s a threat of competing core values, not a biological threat. Regarding Christian marriage, we ought to be thinking a lot more about the threats occurring when we wed values of violence and greed and xenophobia with Jesus? values of radical love and sharing and welcome. In terms of civil marriage, our society would do well to put its stamp of approval on any and all who share 
core values of commitment, fidelity, love, compassion, mutuality, and respect. If we have hearts large enough to be able to sit back and laugh and say nanoo nanoo with Mork and Mindy, it seems the least we can do is stand up and say God bless you to Kathryn and Elizabeth.

MADRID (AP) -Fernando Torres is trying to put a season of struggles behind him to focus on Spain's campaign to defend its European Championship title.
The Chelsea striker will look to impress on Wednesday when Spain plays a friendly against South Korea in Switzerland.
Four years ago, Torres scored the winning goal at the Euro 2008 final. This year, he was not assured a spot in Spain's squad until a late season turnaround coupled with all-time leading scorer David Villa's absence to injury.
Torres, who has 88 caps for the World Cup champions, played sparingly for the Blues on their way to win the Champions League and FA Cup this season. Following talks with the Chelsea brass, Torres is optimistic about his future at the club and certain his form will pick up at the start of the European tournament in Poland and Ukraine next month.
"Physically I feel very good and fresh because I haven't had the drain of so many games as my teammates. I'm hopeful of showing my best to the team," Torres said from Spain's training camp in Austria. "It's true I would have liked to have played more with Chelsea to be in better playing shape."
Torres will compete with Fernando Llorente and Alvaro Negredo for the starting striker's spot in the warm up matches against South Korea on Wednesday and China on Sunday. A good performance in the two friendlies will secure him a place in Spain's opening match against Italy June 10.
"You can't stop the debates," Torres ahead of the match Wednesday - his first since November. "I think we are all here on our own merits. I played with the FA Cup and Champions League winners, so I don't think the end of the seasons was so bad."
Torres missed Spain's 2-0 win over Serbia on Sunday. Juan Mata was out too, but both Chelsea players are in Wednesday's lineup.
Missing from the match will be nine internationals from Barcelona and Athletic Bilbao. They will only join the team when they return to Spain after the South Korea match.
Spain eased past Serbia with its usual brand of possession and passing, which will serve them well to beat opponents in the two remaining warm-up matches for the Euro 2012.
Defender Sergio Ramos did not train on Monday during the team's final public practice in Austria which was marked by the pitch invasion by fans.
Spain travels will travel to its tournament base in the Polish city of Gdansk on June 5.
After Italy, they will face Ireland and Croatia in Group C.

"I kind of like it for us," Pierce said. "It keeps us in rhythm. It keeps us playing. We're an older team so we get kind of stiff when we sit around for too long. We like the fact that we're going to go right into it."
